ICESPIKE - 3/8" Spike
ICESPIKE™ is a lightweight, permanent traction system that installs directly into the sole of your shoe or boot, delivering reliable grip on ice, snow, mud, rocks, and slick terrain. Unlike chains or slip-on cleats, ICESPIKE™ enhances your footwear’s natural traction without changing your stride or feel underfoot.
Once installed, the low-profile steel spikes can stay on through changing conditions — even dry pavement — so you’re always prepared without removing or adjusting anything. Durable, minimalist, and nearly unnoticeable while moving, ICESPIKE™ offers long-lasting performance for runners, walkers, hikers, and workers who need dependable traction all season long.
Installation
Installing ICESPIKE™ is quick and straightforward, turning your favorite rubber-soled shoes or boots into reliable traction footwear for ice, snow, mud, rocks, and slick terrain — with no chains, straps, or coils required.
Each set includes 32 steel spikes and an installation tool. The recommended setup uses 12 spikes per adult shoe (6 in the forefoot and 6 in the heel), with extra spikes included so you can customize placement based on shoe size, gait, or activity.
Basic steps:
- Mark spike placement on the sole, starting about 1½" from the toe and slightly in from the outer edge. Avoid the arch area.
- Use the included tool or a variable-speed drill to screw spikes directly into the sole until snug — do not over-tighten.
- Repeat the same pattern on both shoes for balanced traction.
The fine-thread, locking design keeps spikes securely in place during use, yet allows easy removal with no visible damage if you choose to transfer them to another pair of shoes.
Do’s & Don’ts
DO:
- Space spikes evenly across the ball of the foot and heel
- Mark placement before installing
- Use the same spike pattern on both shoes
- Adjust placement slightly if a spike wears faster than others
DON’T:
- Install spikes in the arch area
- Place spikes directly in deep sole grooves or channels
- Over-tighten spikes during installation
CAUTION:
- Do not wear ICESPIKE™-equipped footwear on indoor wood floors or surfaces that can be damaged
- Treat ICESPIKE™ shoes like golf spikes or ice skates
- ICESPIKE™ improves traction but does not eliminate the risks of walking or running on hazardous surfaces
